Dr. Donna Corbett is a licensed clinical psychologist with a strong background in clinical care, teaching, and research. Since 2015, Dr. Corbett has served in the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego Medical Center, specializing in the treatment of psychosis and other chronic mental health conditions. Her clinical work spans individual, family, and group therapy, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other empirically supported interventions. She has played a central role in the CARE Program, providing psychotherapy, coordinating care for high-risk patients, and leading specialized groups such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Wellness. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Corbett is actively involved in teaching and supervision, training psychiatry residents and psychology doctoral students in the treatment of psychosis and evidence-based therapy approaches. She also contributes to psychiatric research, including studies on early psychosis, family therapy and cognitive training.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Corbett worked as a psychologist with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, serving those who have experienced challenges with the law as a result of mental health conditions. She completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the  Central California Psychological Internship Consortium where she treated a wide range of conditions in the college population. She completed an externship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program and has expertise in treating substance use disorders.

Dr. Corbett is also the founder of Ella Psychotherapy, a private practice serving adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and chronic conditions such as schizophrenia. With a collaborative, strengths-based approach, she provides personalized care tailored to each client’s needs. Dr. Corbett is deeply passionate about her clinical work and remains committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients. She believes in the power of therapy to strengthen individuals, families, and communities, and is dedicated to advancing mental health care both within her practice and the broader San Diego community.
